Recent completed Stained glass project - An Art Deco inspired stained glass installation
This set of Art Deco inspired stained glass panels are in a private penthouse apartment in Royal Tunbridge Wells. The owners of the apartment, which is undergoing refurbishment, wanted a statement piece and liked the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh at Hill house in Glasgow
My first design didn't quite hit the mark, but during discussions, the clients liked an image of a Lalique Victoire car mascot. They also wanted a deep blue green palette, due to the strong light that filled the room pretty much all day long
I went through a number of interations and because the client also wanted another pair of panels to sit over their entrance, I was keen to find a meaningful link between the two sets of panels
During a visit to the Chihuly exhibition at Kew gardens i found inspiration in one of his vases and the motif I created is an homage to this brilliant glass artist
Here is the resulting design and below, the finished installed panels - the Clients are extremely pleased with the finished result and I have already secured another commission as a consequence of this project
